How to troubleshoot your Epson printer

How to troubleshoot your Epson printer

Please attempt the following procedures if you are experiencing problems printing a receipt or connecting the printer using WiFi or via LAN.

How to Factory Reset an Epson Printer

1. Turn off your Epson printer.

2. Use a paper clip or tip of a pen to press and hold the reset on the back of the printer.

3. While holding the reset button, turn the printer on. Continue to hold the reset button.

4. After about 5 seconds, a warning will print out. Release the reset button.

Why doesn't my application recognize my printer?
Scenario 1: The printer is connected to a different network than the device, resulting in it not being located within the application.

Find the IP address of your  Android smartphone/iPhone/iPad device:

Android smartphone

Go to Settings >> Wireless & networks/WLAN, or Settings >> Network & Internet >> Wi-Fi.

iPhone/iPad

Navigate to Settings >> Wi-Fi.

Both devices (printer and phone devices) need to be connected under the same WiFi network, meaning sharing the same IP address.

Once the printer is connected to the Internet, automatically there will be a paper printed with the IP. The sequence of numbers must match in both.

Scenario 2: Your device is using mobile data.

If you're on an Android device:

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Next to your carrier, tap Settings.
  4. Turn Mobile data on or off.

If you're on an iOs device:

To turn Cellular Data on or off, go to Settings > Cellular.

Further Troubleshooting steps:
  1. Turn your Wi-Fi router off and then on again.
  2. Turn your receipt printer off and unplug all cables. Plug all cables back in and turn the receipt printer on.
  3. Make sure the receipt printer is fully plugged in and a roll of paper is in the printer.
  4. Ensure that the Ethernet cable connecting the receipt printer to the Wi-Fi router is properly connected to the Ethernet port on each device.
  5. Hold down the paper feed button while turning the printer on, this will prompt the printer to run a test print.

If the error LED is flashing, see if there are any paper jams. Remove it if it's jammed (if the thermal head overheats, printing stops and resumes automatically when it cools). In other situations, turn off the printer and then turn it back on after ten seconds.

If you are still experiencing issues, we recommend referring to the
Epson printer user manual or contacting Epson customer service for further support.
